The World Cup starts today.
48 teams. 104 matches. 16 host cities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The biggest tournament ever played, stretched across five weeks and four time zones, and most of it will happen while you're in a meeting, on a flight, or at a wedding you couldn't get out of.
So we built something for it. Starting today, Orchid follows the World Cup with you. Text +1 (415) 605-3216 and you're in. No app to download, no account to set up, no notification settings to tune. It's a text thread, like the ones you already have.
Every goal, the second it happens
Tell Orchid which teams you care about, or tell it to keep you posted on everything. From kickoff, the match comes to you:
⚽ GOAL. Messi, 23'. Argentina 1-0
Goals. Red cards. Halftime scores. Final whistles. The moment they happen, not twenty minutes later when you finally check your phone.
And because it's a conversation, not a notification, you can text back. Ask how a player is doing and you'll get a real answer ("unstoppable. 4 shots, 1 goal, 38 minutes in"). Ask what you missed while you were heads-down. Ask if the penalty was soft. Orchid is watching the match either way.
Never miss a kickoff
A tournament played across four time zones is a scheduling problem, and scheduling problems are what Orchid is for.
Tell it "wake me up for the final" and it will text you 30 minutes before kickoff, in your time zone, with the lineups as soon as they drop. Miss a match entirely and you get the recap: the final score, the moments that mattered, and what it means for who advances.
If you're going to a match
This is the part we're most excited about.
Millions of fans are traveling to host cities this summer, and most of them are landing somewhere they've never been. This is where Orchid stops looking like a scores feed and starts being what it actually is: an assistant.
The thing on the other end of the thread isn't a sports bot. It's the same personal assistant that books trips, keeps calendars in order, and never forgets a detail. It can search, plan, and coordinate. So when you land in Mexico City the morning of a match, you can text it the way you'd text a friend who lives there:
"where should we eat near the stadium tonight, party of 4"
"we've got a free day before the quarterfinal, what's actually worth doing"
"find a bar near our hotel showing the early match"
Restaurants worth the wait, neighborhoods worth the detour, the smart way to get to the stadium, what to do with the dead day between matches. Orchid figures it out and texts you a plan.
Why we built this
Orchid is a personal assistant. It helps you stay organized, find information, and get things done, all through messages. Most of what it does happens quietly: booking the trip, sorting the admin, remembering the detail you mentioned once. Useful, but hard to show someone at a party.
The World Cup is the opposite. It's a month where everyone, everywhere, wants the same thing at the same time: to not miss the moment. And we think the fastest way to understand what having an assistant feels like is to delegate something you actually care about and watch it get handled.
So for the next five weeks, this is the demo: a free kick in the 89th minute, in your messages, the second it hits the net.
The tournament runs through the final on July 19. Text +1 (415) 605-3216 or visit orchid.ai/worldcup to get started.
We'll see you at the final.
