We see those queries land on our site every day, and until now the answers lived on other people's pages. So here's ours: what Orchid can see, what it can do without you, what happens to your data, and where to find real reviews.
The right question to be asking
Being skeptical of AI assistants is the majority position, not the fringe. Pew found that 52% of Americans are more concerned than excited about AI's growing role in daily life, up from 37% two years earlier (Pew Research Center, 2023). That concern is reasonable. Something that reads your email has access to more of your life than almost any other piece of software you use.
So we built Orchid around one rule. It should never be able to do anything you couldn't undo, and you should always be able to see exactly what it has access to.
What Orchid can see
Only the accounts you connect. Today that's Gmail and Google Calendar, through Google sign-in. You never give Orchid a password.
Access to Gmail data is governed by Google's API Services User Data Policy, which restricts what an app can do with mailbox data and requires independent security review for apps that read email. Orchid operates under those terms. In plain English: we can use your mail to be your assistant, and for nothing else.
The conversation itself happens over iMessage, which is end-to-end encrypted between your phone and Apple's servers (Apple Platform Security).
What it can do without you
By default, nothing that leaves the thread. Drafts stay drafts until you say send. Calendar holds wait for your okay. Orchid can read, summarize, prepare, and remind on its own, because none of those touch the outside world. Anything that does, waits.
You can widen that if you want, say, letting it confirm meetings with people you name, and you can pull it back at any time. The boundary is yours.
What happens to your data
We never sell it, never share it, never train on it. You can disconnect any account or delete everything from settings, and revoking Orchid from your Google account cuts it off on Google's side the same instant. The full terms are in the privacy policy and the terms of service.

Any honest safety page has to say this: language models make mistakes. They misread a date, summarize a thread with too much confidence, draft a reply that misses the tone. The research on people working with AI finds the gains are largest when the human keeps the judgment calls and the AI takes the drafting and the legwork (Dell'Acqua et al., 2023). That's the whole idea behind "drafts stay drafts." Orchid is built to make you faster at deciding, not to decide for you.

Is Orchid AI safe to connect to my email?
Orchid uses Google sign-in, never stores your password, operates under Google's API Services User Data Policy, and can't send mail or book meetings without your approval. You can revoke access any time from Orchid settings or straight from your Google account.
Is Orchid AI legit?
Yes. The founders answer at [email protected], and the product has been public since March 2026.
Does Orchid read all my email?
It reads the mail in the accounts you connect, so it can triage and draft for you. It doesn't read accounts you haven't connected, and it never uses any of it for anything other than helping you.
Does Orchid train AI models on my data?
No. Never.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. Disconnect accounts or delete everything from settings at app.orchid.ai. Revoking access from your Google account works immediately too.
