How a Shell gas station operator turns one daily email into same-day pricing across five stations

Orchid helps Mo move fuel-price changes across five stations the same day. When costs rise, he can limit margin loss. When they fall, customers get a better pump price sooner. The same workflow saves hours of coordination every week.

The new Shell pricing email is in. Regular is up 8¢, midgrade 7¢, and premium 6¢.

For Station 1, the new pump prices are $3.49 regular, $3.79 midgrade, and $4.09 premium. Want me to email each of the other four stations its prices?

yes. send each station its prices and ask them to update immediately

Done. All five teams have their prices and the request to update now. I'll flag any station that doesn't confirm.

The challenge

Mo operates five Shell gas stations. Every day, the Shell franchise network sends one email with updated fuel-pricing information. Turning that email into prices at five stations used to be a manual chain: read the message, determine what each location should charge, then contact the person responsible at every station.

Delay has a cost in either direction. When fuel costs rise, every hour at the old pump price can reduce margin. When they fall, customers keep paying yesterday's higher price and a nearby competitor may lower its price first.

Pricing was not the only coordination work. Mo also had to chase weekly paperwork from all five stations and work out which locations had submitted it and which needed a reminder.

The problem was the delay between new information arriving and the right action happening at every location. That delay cost Mo hours each week and could cost the business money every day.

The solution

Orchid watches for the daily pricing email, reads the new pricing information, and gives Mo clear pump prices for each station. Mo stays in control of the decision while Orchid handles the repetitive work around it.

Once Mo approves, Orchid emails each station team its specific prices and asks them to update immediately. Mo no longer has to rewrite the instructions, forward messages, or work through five locations one at a time.

The same workflow tracks the weekly paperwork expected from each station and flags anything that is missing. Pricing and paperwork now move through one clear process instead of separate rounds of manual follow-up.

The results

One daily pricing email now becomes a coordinated update across five gas stations. Mo can act the same day instead of losing time to a chain of manual messages and follow-ups.

That speed benefits the business and the customer. When fuel costs rise, Mo shortens the time his stations are exposed to an outdated pump price. When costs fall, customers see the lower price sooner.

Weekly paperwork no longer disappears into a chain of check-ins. Mo gets hours back every week, each location stays accountable, and the work moves faster without adding another manager or another dashboard.

Less busywork. More of the work that matters.
